Your State. Your Code. One Window.

Energy codes are tightening. Aspekt+ Builder is already ahead.

Whether you build in Minneapolis, Chicago, or Denver, codes are moving fast. Aspekt+ Builder exceeds every current and incoming requirement.

Minnesota

Current U-0.32 → Incoming U-0.27

Minnesota is adopting the 2024 IECC, tightening window U-factor limits to 0.27. State statute requires a 70% reduction in new construction energy usage by 2038 vs. the 2006 baseline — roughly 10% more efficient every 3 years for the next dozen years. Aspekt+ Builder is already ahead.

Illinois

Current U-0.28 → Expected U-0.27 by 2028

Illinois adopted the 2024 IECC (effective Nov 2025), setting the Climate Zone 5A U-factor at 0.28 for most of the state. The next IECC cycle is expected to tighten to U-0.27. The state’s Stretch Energy Code already requires U-0.22 for high-performance windows.

The Technology

Alpen Thin Glass: Why triple-pane finally makes sense for builders.

Traditional triple-pane is heavy, thick, and expensive. Alpen Thin Glass changes that. Each thin pane is ~6x lighter than a conventional glass pane, which translates to an overall IGU that’s roughly a third lighter than a standard triple. That’s a meaningful difference on every opening your crew handles. The glass itself is built to last: with a 3x lower coefficient of thermal expansion than conventional soda-lime glass, Alpen’s thin glass naturally resists thermal stress for long-term durability.

Deliver Passive House performance in a builder-grade package with no specialty framing and no extra labor. The lighter unit means faster installs and less crew fatigue on every opening.

The Science of Comfort

Your thermostat says 72°F. Your homeowner feels 62°F. Here’s why.

ASHRAE Standard 55 defines thermal comfort not by air temperature alone, but by Mean Radiant Temperature (MRT) — the average temperature of all surfaces surrounding a person, including windows. Cold glass pulls heat from your body and creates discomfort zones that no furnace can fix.

Standard Double-Pane (U-0.30)

~55°F
Interior glass on a 0°F night

On a 0°F Minnesota winter night, standard double-pane interior glass drops to the mid-50s. ASHRAE research shows occupants feel a 5–8°F effective temperature drop within 4 feet of cold glass. That’s a cold zone stretching halfway across the room.

Result: Homeowners turn up the thermostat, HVAC short-cycles, energy bills spike, and comfort complaints follow. The window is the problem — but the homeowner blames the builder.

Alpen Aspekt+ Builder (U-0.15)

~68°F
Interior glass on a 0°F night

Aspekt+ Builder’s thin triple-pane IGU keeps interior glass within a few degrees of room temperature. The cold zone disappears. Every seat in the room is comfortable — even right next to the window.

Result: HVAC runs efficiently, energy bills drop, no comfort callbacks. The homeowner doesn’t think about the windows — which is exactly the point.

Tools to Sell It

Give your buyers the numbers they want to hear.

High-performance windows aren’t a cost; they’re a value story. Here’s what Aspekt+ Builder gives your homeowners compared to standard double-pane.

Up to 30%
Less Heat Loss

Through windows vs. code-minimum double-pane. That’s real money back in the homeowner’s pocket every month.

Smaller
HVAC Systems

Better windows mean lower heating and cooling loads. Your mechanicals team can spec smaller, less expensive equipment.

High
STC & OITC Ratings

Buyers near highways, airports, and busy streets notice immediately. Quiet is a feature that sells itself.

Near 0
Condensation

Interior glass stays well above dew point, virtually eliminating condensation. No foggy windows, no mold risk, no warranty headaches.

Builders Trust Alpen

Don’t take our word for it.

The pricing for the Alpen windows was not more expensive than even conventional windows despite having twice the performance.

Jay Fox
Builder & Homeowner — Verified Review

Great company, great product, made in America. They stand behind their windows. We’ve used them on multiple projects and the quality is consistently excellent.

Scott Hand
Builder — Verified Review

After 30 years in the trades, Alpen is the best window I’ve installed. The quality of the frame, the hardware, the glazing — it’s just a different level. And the service backs it up.

Andy Johnson
Contractor — Verified Review

We switched from a major national brand to Alpen. The performance difference is night and day, and our homeowners notice it immediately. Zero condensation complaints since.
